TU Vienna / ISAS

The Microsystemtechnology department of the Institute of Sensor and Actuator Systems (ISAS) at the Vienna University of Technology is application-oriented and concentrates on putting theoretical and academic work and results into practise (technology transfer) with emphasis on handling and assembly, design methods, proceedings for norms and standardization, tribology, evaluation of reliability of parts, production technologies, testing echniques and product development in the field of precision engineering. ISAS is participating in the Microstructure Centre at the Vienna University of Technology, set up in June 1994, providing technological possibilities for microstructuring, assembly, testing and quality control of microstructures.

Tasks of TU Vienna / ISAS in ASSEMIC:

  • Design of low cost prototypes for a microgripper fabricated with novel materials

  • Evaluation and characterization of requirements and properties of microhandling in a SEM chamber

  • Design and development of a prototype tool for joining techniques using different kinds of glue

  • Database of properties and behaviour of microparts during assembly operations

  • Study on the necessity of assembly in Microsystems technology

  • System for characterization of rotational microdevices
