SSSA

The Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (SSSA) is a public university whose mission is to promote and advance scientific knowledge through graduate study and doctoral research. A number of spin-off companies represent a special link between research activities and industrial world. The Microfabrication Technology Laboratory (MiTech Lab) was established in 1991 at the SSSA, as the microengineering laboratory investigating micromechatronics design methods and fabrication technologies for the development of microcomponents, microsystems and micromachines for biomedical instrumentation, automotive and fluidic applications and in general. MiTech Lab has always believed in the value of harmonization of interdisciplinary expertise, rather than just in specialization.

  Tasks of SSSA in ASSEMIC:

  • Advanced handling components and biomechatronic systems

  • Manipulation and grasping, biomechatronics, force sensors, artificial perception systems

  • Bio-medical signal, neuroscience, integrated systems for bio-engineering, computer assisted surgery for exploring medical applications of micromanipulation
